Castlebar Kayak Club. We are an independent kayaking club set up in 2003. We are based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo and have young and old members from all corners of the county. More information on the club and activities we undertake can be found in the Introduction to CKC. We are extremely fortunate to have a wide variety of kayaking locations very close to our base, wheather it's Sea Kayaking, White Water or Surf Kayaking there is always a spot nearby to try out regardless of the weather.We are always open to those who are new to the sport, and also experienced paddlers. The 2012 will be starting on 11th April @6:30. We are assembling in the car park @ Lough Lannagh.The Course is a Level 2 General Kayaking Skills Course. There is a entry requirment for entry onto this course. All new members MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM. All members will have to CAPSIZE each night & SWIM TO SHORE. Course fee is €160 which includes Gear Hire (Boat, Paddle, Boyancy Aid, Helmet.) Everyone will need thier own wetsuit. The Fee is payable on first night of course, no payment no place as the course is over subscribed. Course last for approx 7 weeks, and everyone will be assessed at the end.
The Club has organised Pool Sessions to take place over 5 weeks starting friday November 11th, these will be held in the Westport Woods Hotel, and will start at 8pm each Friday for the 5 weeks. All members attending must have a boat, or organised one from the club for thier use. All boats will need to be cleaned and inspections will take place. There is an additional charge of €10 pp per session for the pool sessions. These sessions are the ideal oppertunity for level 2 and 3 pddlers to learn thier roll, and improve thier roll.
The Club Membership is up for renewal December this year. If all club members can contact Trish or Michael to arrange payment we can get this sorted and out of the way before the new year. Membership is €80 for the full year whih included ICU membership of €20

The club is running a table quiz in BAR ONE Castlebar on Wednesday night 17th August starting 9pm. Tables of 4 and €10 per person. Good Prizes and a great night to be had. This seasons beginner course is starting soon, all signed up people please meet at Lough Lannagh at 6:45 on wednesday 13th April. Full course fee is payable on the night ( €160 including Gear Hire / €100 if you come with suitable gear inc. Boat) All new beginners must be able to Swim (Safety always comes first), and will be expected to capsize every night, and perform rescue drills.

The Annual Club Membership is now due, Membership runs from October to September, regardelss of when you join the Club. Membership this year is €80 (€60 Club Membership and €20 ICU membership). Please Pay, any committee member, or Chris Corr in Wesport or Michael Carney in the Baby Shop next to the Church in castlebar.
Following the recent AGM as new Committe has been appointed, check out our club contacts to see who sits where!! We would like to welcome Colm Byrne, Micheal Kearney and Robert Hunt as new members to the board.
There were two logos designed for the club, they were posted on the members section of the site, members voted on thier preferred option and Option 2 has been decided upon. It can be viewed under the members section and Club Members for 2010 will be able to purchase club merchandise with the club logo.
A date for The Castlebar Kayak Club A.G.M has been set. It will take place on Sat 27th Feburary '10.Keep an eye on the Club events Calender for times and venue details. All club members are invited to attend.

The New Castlebar Kayak Club Website goes live on the 1st January 2010. It has lots of interactive features for Club Members, like the New Forum, Events Calender, Unique Password Protected Members Section and also a Club Photo Gallery! Members will be give a unique Password to logon and check up and coming events, member information, and Club information downloads.
